it's dangerous — saying what you really mean.

about
a lot is covered in the personality section since these are not too different in ways, but suffice to say ein lee works with the law (a cop in berlin -- sergeant, undercover in his attempt to dismantle yanek's branch, and after that ends in yanek's death and consequently a big target on ein himself, escapes to korea), is protected by interpol (insofar as they can manage), and still wanted by the east european mafia until diesel and milena's Family ruse his death. he has a wolf -- that's diesel -- who also has him. they are partners and lovers and inhabited by certain shared experiences that complicate and fortify their loyalties to each other. ein has, it seems, solid ideas about certain cornerstones in life, including 'love'. he would rather sacrifice himself than endanger someone he cares about, but he's not blind to the fact that foolhardy sacrifice amounts to abandonment. it makes certain decisions he makes rather hard, though it's worth noting he does Make Choices.
personality
very serious, quiet, composed. very few things ruffle him visibly. even when he's extremely worried there is something quiet about ein lee. some of this is immense self discipline/control. some of it is just how he is. smart, efficient, with a propensity for deep melancholy he doesn't speak to, ein could've walked out of a less cheesy film noir with his comments regarding mafia revengists and their delusions of romance. his silent language with his wolf diesel is by far the most intimate and the most fluent despite it involving not many explicit words. they do talk, but much like animals, have an instinctual Way with each other that's almost vital. with others like minsuk, he's pleasant enough, calm but not the same kind of calm as minsuk. there should be something about ein lee that makes him easy to get along with but also hard to remember, if you don't really know him, which suits both his job and his life on the run as we know it in canon. to first interactions, he's probably civil unless you're attacking him, etc. as a person who's done undercover stints, it's not as though he doesn't know how to get along with people in the ways they prefer, and he's patient at the same time that he's discerning and proactive.
history
weeeeee actually don't know much about his history. ji-yeon confirmed that he had a common family but grew apart from them due to his undercover work and slowly disappeared from the life he had. as for what happens in canon, well, that's a lot. one could argue his backstory with diesel is 'history' but even that is a great deal to wrangle in terms of a summary. wolf in the house is a canon with very little down-time when things really start to hook and the backstory of ein and diesel is essentially like getting on a particular doozy of a rollercoaster ride. he meets diesel first as a person when yanek - the man whose drug/trafficking business/etc he's infiltrating [undercover officer of course] - brings him to his shop (a butcher's shop is his cover then.) diesel isn't even conscious for this, so maybe it's too much to say 'meeting'. he's clearly drawn to him when he sees him again but ein senses even then before he knows anything of the wolf in him, that there's something else afoot.

see this is already getting too long. read wolf in the house. it's gorgeous and sticks with you.
